About Be the Light in the Darkness
Our Mission Statement
Be the Light in the Darkness is a dedicated place for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, and trauma to find healing and freedom. Our foundation is built on John 1:5 “The light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”. Our mission is to offer a community that fosters empowerment, support, and love, guiding individuals toward restoration and freedom from their past experiences.
Be the Light in the Darkness is a non-profit 501(C)3 founded by Kristiana Poole with a strong calling from God leading her every step of the way.
Our Vision Statement
Our vision is to create a world where every survivor of trauma feels seen, valued, and supported in their journey toward healing. We strive to build a community that empowers individuals to break free from their past, live with renewed strength, and embrace a future filled with hope, love, and purpose.
It all began in 2020, a time when the world was gripped by chaos and uncertainty during the pandemic. Kristiana has always been deeply passionate about advocacy, dedicating over 15 years to serving as a Victim Advocate and Prevention and Education Specialist, helping survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and child abuse.
In 2020, she felt a divine calling to do something different—something more personal and transformative. Her vision was to create a safe, healing space where survivors could share their stories and experience the freedom that comes from healing.
Be the light is built on Gods word- John 1:5 The light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
As a survivor of childhood abuse and growing up in a home affected by domestic violence, Kristiana has walked her own journey of healing, finding strength through her faith. It is this foundation that shapes the mission of Be the Light. Built on the power of God’s word—John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”—the organization exists to help others discover that same light.
Kristiana’s mission is to provide a sanctuary where people not only rediscover their own light but also become a beacon of hope for those still walking in darkness. She believes that our stories matter—they have purpose, and by sharing them, we can all find healing and freedom. Be the Light is a place where survivors can find vital resources, empowerment, love, support, and a sense of community. Together, we walk in solidarity, empowering each other and building a pathway to healing and freedom.
